Available over-the-counter without a prescription, diosmin is considered well-tolerated among all age groups. Side effects are rarely reported, though headache and gastric pain have been noted in a very few instances. Pregnant or lactating women, of course, should seek a doctor's approval before using any dietary supplement or over-the-counter remedy. Diosmin products may be formulated for a twice-a-day regimen, though more convenient once-a-day dosing has been shown to be just as effective as twice-a-day formulations, and may even produce more rapid results. [Carpentier; Henriet; Maruszynsky.]
